Trump’s first 100 days should have made one thing clear: The GOP wants to rule, not govern   Leave a comment

…When you keep this in mind, everything that’s happened since Trump won the White House should make perfect sense. For those who don’t know, Henry Wallace was the 33rd Vice President of the United States opposite Franklyn D. Roosevelt during World War II. Now more than ever, his warning against the Oligarthy is painfully relevant. We are seeing what he warned about 70 years ago: What will happen when the rich and powerful control the government, rewrite the rules in their favor and put the squeeze on everyone else. It’s an exaggeration to call it a form of enslavement but it’s not that far off from the reality either.

…Keep this in mind: We may never know who ordered the hit on JFK (everyone agrees James Earl Ray wasn’t acting alone) but we do know why. The timing for this quote is just like that of Martin Luther King’s last speech the night before he was killed. JFK learned about a conspiracy by some very powerful people who had no problem having him killed to keep power. The elite ruling class who now control this country care only about power and profits. They could care less how many lives are destroyed or killed along the way.

Nevermind Donald Trump. Like I said before in past blog posts, he’s the distraction they’re using to keep the public and the media’s attention. Now, it goes without saying Trump himself is not a Republican. Everyone knows that. Trump himself proved something very important that he said during the second debate last fall. He proved beyond reasonable doubt Democracy in America is a lie. He proved an admitted sexual predator and con artist can become POTUS. He proved it by actually becoming president.

…The irony of quote goes without saying: Originally used by racists and the GOP as justification for their personal attacks against Barack Obama during his presidency, it has taken on a whole new meaning in light of the 45th President. Trump has made it no secret he’s an egolomaniac who can’t handle criticism from even his own base of supporters. He was one of Obama’s loudest critics during the past 8 years. Now, he only surrounds himself with Yes-Men and conspirators who have their own self-interests in mind.

https://i1.wp.com/cdn.quotesgram.com/img/42/18/350105411-Einstein-on-socialism.jpg

…Folks need to keep in mind Capitalism by its very nature means anything including an idea has a price that can be bought snd sold. The irony of the board game Monopoly is it’s no longer just a “game”. Laws and Regulations were passed in the 60 years after the Civil War to stop the Tycoons and Barons of the era from having dominating the economy. The Great Depression says hi. After the country collapsed and faith in the state was at an all-time low, newly elected president Franklyn D. Roosevelt introduced policies and reforms that helped prep the U.S. for World War II: A Socialist Economy. If not for this policy, the U.S. wouldn’t have been as prepared as it was to commit fully to the war effort in Europe and the Pacific.

The obvious question to be asked: Why is a Socialist Economy so vehemently opposed now? I’ll tell you. It’s because it’s a threat to the interests of men and companies who only care about money and greed. It is for this same reason they are so against welfare programs and social services aimed to help the most vulnerable. Their logic is “Why should I have to give a starving child a free bowl of soup or a homeless man a free pair of shoes when I can sell them and turn a profit?” Even worse, they brainwash those who don’t see the big picture into believing “You don’t want to pay taxes to help the homeless. They’re lazy bums who don’t want to work.”

https://s-media-cache-ak0.pinimg.com/736x/36/2f/34/362f34734777e052b0685dcd7d0e3b2d.jpg

…This is the logic of the GOP and the Elite Ruling Class. This is also why they not only ensure public school students are denied a proper education AND force college students into debt for life but continue to perpetuate the lie “This is the way it should be”. No, what they’re doing is ensuring future generations will be easy to fool, control and exploit is all. The most effective form of slavery is convincing the slave they’re “Free”.

It’s as MLK said:

https://i1.wp.com/www.veteransnewsnow.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/12/Martin-Luther-King-Jr.-A-nation-that-continues-to-spend-630-x-470.jpg

America has been morally bankrupt for decades. That much is certain. The difference is now it’s simply more clear and apparent. The question to be asked is how long will it be allowed to go on?

Anime Boston 2016 Full Recap   Leave a comment

Anime Boston Banner

Up to now, I did each day in a separate post. AB2016 was more of a blur for me mostly because of how I decided to use my time at the convention and the fact that I was a panelist for the 5th year in a row. This was my first time doing the convention with no budget. The only reason I was able to get through the weekend is because I commuted from home. I can’t imagine I would have been able to get through the weekend if I was in a hotel room because of the added expenses that comes with that. I digress. My financial problems aside, overall I had a pleasant experience.

Anyone who was there and/or followed the goings-on via the Anime Boston Social Facebook Group–which by the way is run and maintained by congoers, NOT the convention itself–was quickly made aware of the lines to get into the Hynes, which were an unfortunate side effect from the increased security presence in the Hynes Convention Center. For those who didn’t know, there was an incident at the Hynes last summer involving a mass shooting plot. Due to this and the Boston Marathon Bombing in 2013, security was stepped up for Anime Boston 2016.

Before I continue, the rest of this recap will be broken up into several categories. Those who are familiar with my Video Game Blog know when I review things, I rate them on a scale of 1 to 10. The same will be done for each category I score below.

Line Flow – 4/10

Easily issue #1 at AB2016. It was atrocious. I heard two particular horror stories that struck a nerve from two folks who gave their experience at the Convention Feedback on Sunday after Closing Ceremonies. For those who don’t know, Convention Feedback is held after Closing Ceremonies in room 208 from 4:00PM to 5:00PM. The heads of all of Anime Boston’s departments, the chair and vice chair are there to listen to your feedback and answer any questions you may have. I’m giving this its own section so I’ll leave it at that for now.

Back to this though: Unlike years’ past, the line problems were exclusively around getting into the con. AB’s had a crapton of bad luck in recent years with the security subcontractors the Hynes hires. This year was possibly the worst yet. I followed the goings-on via Facebook on my cellphone. It was painfully clear most of the security detail didn’t want to be there. After the Prudential Center as usual made noise about the mall entrance to the Hynes being so backed up it became a fire hazard, AB Staff closed the entrance at intervals and moved everyone to the Boylston st. Entrance.

The root cause of the problem, of course was the security checkpoints. For many, it took them 30 minutes minimum to get into the Hynes. It goes without saying those who got in avoided leaving the Hynes unless they had to in order to avoid the line that oftentimes wrapped around the side of the building. I want to again stress the root cause of the lines is the security checkpoints which Anime Boston has no control over.

Unfortunately, they will remain until enough people decide they don’t want to live like that anymore. You will need to contact State Lawmakers and the Hynes and let them know how much the security checkpoints effected your ability to enjoy the convention. Increased security has become the norm since 9/11 but the problem is it’s never lowered once raised. If you don’t speak out, the powers that be see no reason to lower them. That’s the trick, actually.

Here’s some food for thought for those who don’t see this as a “problem”: I have attended the Boston Marathon in the 3 years since the bombing in 2013. Boston Police has security checkpoints all over Copley Square, which is the finish line. As you can probably guess, hundreds of thousands of spectators converge at the finish line–easily much more than Anime Boston’s 25,000 to 30,000 attendees each year–to watch the runners finish the race.

How long does it take to pass through security? 5 minutes max. No metal detectors. No one yelling at you. They check your bag, wand you and you’re on your way in 30 seconds tops. Same city. Same area. Different mindset. I posed the question on Anime Boston’s forums a short time ago to see if changing who does security would help.

Dining Options – 4/10

…For those who didn’t know, the Prudential Center’s food court was closed in the summer of 2015 and was replaced with an Eataly, which is a hybrid Supermarket and Restaurant. Still under construction at the time, this slashed the dinining options for congoers, the majority of whom were either on a budget or like me had no food budget (LOL). This is actually outside Anime Boston’s juristiction but I felt the need to mention it anyway as a Boston native myself.

Video Selections – 8/10

As in years past, AB2016 offered a mix of mainstream dubbed anime, mainstream subbed anime and new anime of both types being introduced at the con. All courtesy of the industry of course. One Punch Man was a huge draw of course. Most of the anime, I’d say most Congoers had at least heard of overall. It was nice to see Summer Wars, Angel Beats, Ouran High School Host Club, Spice & Wolf and The Last: Naruto the Movie among the featured anime. I say that because I own ALL of them ^_^

My Panels – 7/10

I decided to mark my 5th staight year as a panelist by doing two panels I’ve done before. One was of course my Clannad panel. The other was my Persona 4 Panel, which I also did at AB2014. Attendance at both was pretty good. Unike AB2015 there were no delays with the start times (WOOT!) and even better, no major technical problems (LOL!). Steam randomly decided to do an update when I did a demonstration of the Clannad VN on my laptop. One lucky Congoer got to play the first 15 minutes of the Clannad VN =O

…Fortunately, I had planned to do my Q&A at the same time so it was a minor delay. It was my 5th and likely final time doing my Clannad panel at Anime Boston. Now that the Clannad VN has (FINALLY!) been released in North America, I felt it was a good time to retire the panel. Even though most of the friends I made because of Clannad have since moved on to other fandoms, it will always be my favorite Anime of all time.

My Persona 4 panel is why I rated this secfion a 7/10: I ended up having to change a few things on the fly. I DID allow two Congoers to sample Persona 4 Golden and Persona 4: Dancing All Night during my Q&A session (As a reminder, I have two Vitas). I also gave away my Persona Arcana deck at the end of the panel. I consider myself lucky even though I had an hour I only used 45 minutes. I feel like with my Persona panel I did a bit too much improvising. In comparison, when I did my Clannad panel the next morning I was feeling extremely comfortable.

Dealer’s Room – N/A

As I mentioned at the top I was broke going into AB2016 so I basically avoided the dealer’s room like The Plague. The one time I remember setting foot in there was for a pre-arranged item swap with a friend of mine working one of the booths. I did chat with the owner of Comicopia for a few minutes on Sunday now that I’m thinking about it.

Convention Feedback – 10/10

Convention organizers did not shy away from the widely reported horror stories involving Line Flow and the Security Firm hired to handle security for the weekend. It goes without saying it took up almost all of the alotted time. AB was in full-on damage control, which when you think about it was pretty unfair since they have no control over the security checkpoints. I was impressed but unsurprised the feedback session had a large turnout. Most of those who provided feedback either shared their experience in what’s been dubbed LineCon 2.0.

Huge props to event organizers on a job well done. They knew going in what the main topic was going to be and they handled the criticism like professionals. On that note, it’s worth pointing out NONE of AB staff are paid including the department heads. It’s all a labor of love ^_^

Overall – 8/10

Despite the bottleneck at the security checkpoints things went pretty well. Despite being broke, I had a good time. Of course, being broke meant I had no reason to leave the Hynes until I was ready to go home. I didn’t mind not being able to go in the Dealer’s Room but I DID mind not having the money to buy food. Never again. LOL.
…And there you have it.

Ironically, I posted this 5 days before AB2017. I seriously forgot about it due to problems in my personal life before, during and since AB2016. As it happens, for a while I faced the reality I would not make it to AB2017. Then I got my tax return ^_^

This year I have a little bit of money so I’ll be able to eat, travel and do a little shopping in the Dealer’s Room. I actually entertained getting a hotel room for Saturday night but in the end I have decided not to. Instead, I’ll take a cab from Forest Hills Saturday night like I’ve done in the past. It also helps my birthday is the Thursday of pre-registration so…yeah. LOL.

New England Patriots make history at Super Bowl IL; Alot of Super Bowl Babies gettin’ made!   Leave a comment

…The Revenge Tour is complete: Almost 2 hours ago, NFL Commissioner Roger Gooddell handed Tom Brady his fourth MVP Trophy. Unlke Brady and Belicheck, Patriots owner Robert Kraft didn’t hold back in his comments on how sweet this Super Bowl Victory is. Non-Patriots fans be damned, the New England Patriots are America’s Football Team.

Damn those who had the audacity to compare the Patriots’ comeback victory to last year’s Presidential Election. The Falcons winning probably would have been best for business but in the long run, the Patriots ended up being the better team. There’s also this:
https://i0.wp.com/cdn.eonsports.com.au/wp-content/uploads/2016/03/Tom-Brady-Isaiah-Thomas-1200x480.jpeg
As you know from my last post, the Celtics played Sunday afternoon in Boston. During last summers’ Kevin Durant Sweepstakes IT4 and TB12 met before they met with Kevin Durant. IT said in an interview in recent weeks he and TB have texted back and fourth since they met last summer. Isaiah Thomas is known as the King of the Fourth this season. He earned that title because he takes over the game in the fourth quarter. Brady was seen texting on the sidelines last night. I doubt either would make it public but I would not be surprised if the Brady took some advice from the King of the Fourth watching the game from Boston. As we all know, the Patriots won the game in the Fourth Quarter. It’s hard for me imagine the two didn’t exchange words before or during the game at some point ^_^

https://i0.wp.com/media2.s-nbcnews.com/j/msnbc/components/video/160205/tdy_take_babybowl_160205.nbcnews-ux-1080-600.jpg

…That brings me to this interesting statistic the NFL apparently started tracking two years ago (LOL!): There is a surge in births 9 months after a Super Bowl, most notably in cities and towns that are fans of the teams involved in the big game. In other words, some babies are gettin’ made!

All the more reason the day after the Super Bowl should be made a national holiday. LOL.

As Paul Pierce plays his final game in Boston, the future of the Celtics is bright   Leave a comment

…Paul Pierce and Isaiah Thomas. One is sure to have his number added to the rafters after he retires. The other is primed to lead the Celtics to their 18th NBA Championship. This is the first time since the 1980s that the future of the Celtics isn’t in doubt.

Who could have imagined the Len Bias incident would have seen the Celtics drop out of the playoff picture for almost a decade? When Larry Bird, Kevin McHale and Robert Parish retired (1993, 1994 and 1996) and when Reggie Lewis died in 1995, there were serious questions as to weather or not the team could return to who they once were. The ill-fated Rick Pitino era–and then the now-imfamous “Larry Bird is not walking through that door” jab on his way out after failing to lead the Celtics back to the playoffs–made the possability of a 17th Championship feel more and more like a faraway dream.

Then the Celtics signed Paul Pierce in 1999. Three years later Danny Ainge hired Doc Rivers, who led the Celtics to the 2nd Round of the NBA Playoffs in his first year as Head Coach of the Celtics (2002). The untimely death of legendary Celtics coach Red Aurbach (8 Championships in 10 years) in 2006 reminded the team that although they were getting good, they weren’t good enough to contend with the then emerging superstar LeBron James or the favorite to return to the NBA Finals, the Detroit Pistons.

https://i0.wp.com/images4.fanpop.com/image/photos/17900000/Boston-Celtics-the-big-3-boston-celtics-17951212-435-283.jpg

https://i2.wp.com/www.wallcoo.net/sport/nba_celtics_0708/images/wallpaper_finals2008_brotherhood.jpg
So, during the summer of 2007 Danny Ainge pulled the trigger on a trade that brought Kevin Garnett to the Boston Celtics in exchange for Gerald Green (who is now back with the Celtics this year) and 3 other young players. A few weeks later, the Celtics signed Free Agent Ray Allen. Just like that, the Celtics were now contenders going into the 2007-08 NBA Season. 1 year later, the Celtics woyld raise Banner 17 to the rafters.

https://pbs.twimg.com/media/C2GhsHAWEAAxYmd.jpghttps://i0.wp.com/weartesters.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/10/Thomas-Pick-Me-Last-Ver1-1024x785.jpg

As the last and most beloved member of what was then The New Big 3 prepares to retire, the Celtics firmly control their own destiny. Isaiah Thomas, who was drafted last in the 2nd round of the 2010 NBA Draft is 2nd in Points Per Game behind Russell Westbrook this year. He became the first Celtic since Paul Pierce back in 2006 to score 50+ points in a game in December. He has had SEVERAL 40+ games since mid-December including Friday’s win over the Lakers.

I haven’t even gotten to the supporting cast: You’ve got Al Horford (signed with Boston during the offseason), Avery Bradey (when he returns from injury), Terry Rozier and 1st Round Draft Pick Jaylen Brown (A workhorse with LeBron James’ basketball IQ). You also have Marcus Smart, Jae Crowder, Jonas Jerebko and Kelly Olynik.

There’s also the Brooklyn Nets picks from the trade that sent Paul Pierce and Kevin Garnett from Boston to Brooklyn. Looks like the Celtics are primed to hit it BIG in the next draft to boot: Last year’s draft was just about Ben Simmons (missed half the season with an injury) and Brandon Ingram but Jaylen Brown’s been having one hell of season. Don’t even get me started on the NBA Players who have come up in conversation for a possible trade to Boston before the deadline.

…Getting back to The Truth, he ended his final appearance in Boston with a streak that would remain unbroken: He has scored a basket in every game he’s ever played in The Garden. Fitting that Paul Pierce would score the final basket and his only basket of the game. It would not be enough as the Celtics would go on to win the game 107-102. The three-pointer was more of a token from the home team, who gave him the wide open shot. No doubt the “We want Paul Pierce!” chants during most of the fourth quarter will be a moment he will never forget. As many have said, you can be sure Celtics fans will see more of The Truth after he retires as a player.

The time is now to think about who will come after Trump   Leave a comment

This is the GOP’s message to the world more or less.

Based on the events of this past weekend, there are serious questions as to weather or not Trump will even last the rest of the year: Republicans have already started to rebel barely two weeks into Trump’s presidency. Of course, we knew the GOP was just planning to use Trump to deregulate everything, increase military spending and give tax cuts to those who don’t need ’em. That was the plan from the beginning but things have clearly escalated much faster than expected.

We’ll know for sure over the next two months for sure. That brings me to the subject of the title: Mike Pence.

We will need to watch very closely to see how they package Trump’s exit and how they present Pence being sworn in as President. I see one of two things happening:

  1.  Pence starts publicly speaking out against Trump in the next few weeks or months (“My loyalty is to the will of the American people first”, etc.), leading to him asking Congress to impeach Trump (Very Likely).
  2. The GOP moves to impeach Trump on their own and declares Pence will be acting President (Most Likely).

I doubt it will be anything other than one of those two things. It will all be about how the GOP packages Trump’s exit we need to pay very close attention to. He will likely be presented as a “Benevolent Ruler” or a “Savior” coming to fix everything Trump did. In fact, that should be the assumption unless there is a full reset on the cabinet.

One thing you should know about the GOP if you don’t already: They ALWAYS do what they say they will. Of course, it’s early to be thinking about that but it’s something to keep in mind. It’s not a matter of if but “WHEN” and When is probably happening alot sooner than anyone could have imagined:

https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/b/b4/Sally_Q._Yates.jpg/220px-Sally_Q._Yates.jpg

In case you don’t know who she is, this is Sally Yates. Until Monday afternoon, she was the Federal Attorney General. She was fired by President Trump within an hour of declaring she would not defend Trump’s controversial anti-Muslim executive order last Friday Jess Sessions was appointed acting AG and has ordered Federal Judges nationwide to upjold Trump’s executive order. Of course, they can’t since the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) took the government to court over it and won. LOL. Round 2 should be in a matter of days if not hours. Thanks to the $24.1 million in donations they received over the weekend–20 times what they normally get a year–they’re good to go.

…Mind you, This is on top of Trump removing the the Joint Chiefs of Staff from the National Security Council and replacing them with Steve Bannon on Friday. Yes, THAT Steve Bannon.

The thing about all these moves that folks need to keep in mind is there ARE checks and Balances. Some of those in the middle and most on the Left are wondering why the Dems aren’t doing anything other than angrily shaking their fists at the White House. Some of those in the middle and many on the Right are cheering on Trump’s actions so far, feeling “This is how things are suppose to be”.

…Weather you’re in the middle, on the left, on the right or wherever, this is something you should know: There are checks and balances and what Trump is doing IS a blatant abuse of power. It’s just a question of when the GOP will move to impeach Trump and I can assure those of you who are pro-Trump, they WILL. They’ll do it when it’s most convenient for them to do so. Timing’s not quite there yet.

When you know what’s going to happen next, you have no reason to be too concerned. By all means, be careful but what will happen in the near future is too easy to not know at this point. Please donate to the ACLU. They are non-partisan and are for everyone.

A REPUBLICAN Washington Insider confirmed what I said over the last 6 months!   Leave a comment

https://img.washingtonpost.com/wp-apps/imrs.php?src=https://img.washingtonpost.com/rf/image_960w/2010-2019/WashingtonPost/2016/07/21/Production/Health/Images/APTOPIX_GOP_2016_Convention-2b56b.jpg&w=480

As a reminder, I said this on the eve of the Republican National Convention last summer:

“We all laughed at the very idea. Then he started saying all the things the Republican Party didn’t dare say publicly. “There’s no way he’s serious about getting elected.” we thought to ourselves. “He’s getting bad advice.” we thought. Perhaps to his own surprise, racists and biggots who felt the same came out of their parents’ basements and out of the woodwork to voice their support of him. Much to the shagrin of  the at one point 17 other Republican Candidates, Trump’s popularity within the party continued to rise until he was the last man standing.”

A few weeks later, I said this:

“The one thing you have to give the GOP credit for is at least you know where they stand 100% of the time.”

In September, I said this after the first debate:

“Based on what I saw tonight, I honestly would not be bothered with Trump as president simply because we know what will be getting.”

I said this the day after the election:

The proverbial “Nightmare Scenario” is now a reality. No, not Trump winning the White House but the GOP controlling Washington. The Republicans control the House, the Senate and soon the Supreme Court. THAT is an even bigger problem in comparison.”

…Man oh man, maybe I should be a political advisor for someone. LOL. I did you the favor of not only provinig the quotes relevant to what I’m about to share but the links so you can go back and read the articles they all came from. When you read what I’m about to share with you, it will make a whole lot of sense.

Robert Reich posted an interesting conversation he had with an unnamed former REPUBLICAN Congressman in Washington this week on Facebook. Here is the FULL Text of their conversation:

I had breakfast recently with a friend who’s a former Republican member of Congress. Here’s what he said:

Him: Trump is no Republican. He’s just a big fat ego.

Me: Then why didn’t you speak out against him during the campaign?

Him: You kidding? I was surrounded by Trump voters. I’d have been shot.

Me: So what now? What are your former Republican colleagues going to do?

Him (smirking): They’ll play along for a while.

Me: A while?

Him: They’ll get as much as they want – tax cuts galore, deregulation, military buildup, slash all those poverty programs, and then get to work on Social Security and Medicare – and blame him. And he’s such a fool he’ll want to take credit for everything.

Me: And then what?

Him (laughing): They like Pence.

Me: What do you mean?

Him: Pence is their guy. They all think Trump is out of his mind.

Me: So what?

Him: So the moment Trump does something really dumb – steps over the line – violates the law in a big stupid clumsy way … and you know he will …

Me: They impeach him?

Him: You bet. They pull the trigger.

There ya go. I have shared this post with several people but this conversation has been verified as AUTHENTIC.

Finally, read this article I wrote last month. The whole thing.

…NOW do you see why my last two posts about Trump were so restrained? NOW Do you understand WHY I said what I said in that last article?

Turns out I was right: The Trump’s the scapegoat. Pence is being prepped to take over for him, which the GOP apparently believes will be before or by the midterm elections. Trump gets impeached and forced out of office and Pence takes his place. By default, the current Speaker of the House–Paul Ryan–will become the new Vice President. Exactly as planned.

The GOP’s just patiently waiting for right the oppoortunity to turn on Trump. The fact that this was revealed a week into the new adminstration tells me they are confident they won’t have to wait too long to impeach him. The funny thing is it’s likely Trump already knows this and doesn’t care. So, the GOP and Trump are keeping up appearances for now. What Trump will find out when the time comes is the limits of the Executive Branch.

Note the things listed above the GOP is rushing to get. They’ll get most of them:

  • Most of the Deregulation and midterms will probably be rolled back after the midterms. I already know which ones.
  • Military buildup will probably not happen. One thing President Obama did the Republicans actually AGREED with was he proved the Military can operate just fine on a reduced budget. The GOP might divert money to black projects but nothing more than that.
  • Poverty Programs…the GOP will be forced to back out of this, more so if a natural disaster like Katrina hits.
  • Social Security and Medicare…the Everest of “Welfare” programs the GOP has wanted to get rid of for DECADES. They will try but they will ultimately fail to eliminate both.
  • Trump is no fool. He’s an egolomaniac but he’s no fool. He’s made it clear he loves revenge. If he goes down, you can be damned sure he’s taking as many people down with him as possible.

The GOP actually thinks they’re playing Trump. The GOP still hasn’t figured out they won’t be able to use Trump like they think they will. By the time they do, it’ll be too late and they will have handed Washington back to the Democrats on a silver platter!

So, all we have to do is sit back, watch and wait. Of course, we need to make sure our voices are heard, too.

What really sucks about these four years is those in need and the working poor will be made to suffer the most. Why? Because they’re not privileged, multi-national corporations or billionaires, that’s why. The GOP should lose control of Congress in 2018 if the current course doesn’t change. Assuming Trump is impeached before that time–and the GOP will likely try to arrange for Trump’s exit before the midterms so Pence is president for at least two full years–Pence will make the case for four more years. Since he’d be finishing what would be Trump’s first term, he would only be able to serve an additional term as President and would not be allowed to run again.

When the Dems retake Washington, they need to have it made clear WHO they’re supposed to be working for, not who they take money from. That was their mistake last year and it cost them the White House. I may no longer endorse the Democratic Party but whoever the Dems package for 2020 needs to be someone strong enough to defeat both Trump (if he’s still in office) and Pence (assuming he takes over). Pence is the GOP’s Ace in the Hole so whoever challenges the GOP needs to be strong enough to beat him in the 2020 election should that matchup happen. That’s when the Dems have their opening: Unless they repeat last year’s mistakes (which sadly is very possible), it should not be too hard to make the case for change in 2020, more so if they retake Congress in 2018.

…We knew this was coming. Thanks to insider info leaked to Shaun King back in November, we knew this was the day the Fossil Fuel Industry had been patiently waiting for. After all, President Donald Trump not only has a stake in both projects but he promised to do this.

Opponents to the DAPL are not backing down. Shaun King sent an email this afternoon requesting emergency aid of any kind for the protestors at Standing Rock with an ominous tone. Here it is in part:

“I want to ask you a principled question.

How far are you willing to go to stop the construction of this pipeline through sacred grounds?

Are you willing to donate? Are you willing to fund the fight? Are you willing to pull your funds out of the banks that are backing the pipeline? Are you willing to travel there and put your body on the line? Are you willing to do what it takes to stop this?

Because that’s what I’m asking of you.”

~ Civil Rights Activist and New York Daily News Editor Shaun King

…By the way, here is the full list of all of the banks who are funding the DAPL:

No automatic alt text available.

…If you are against the DAPL and you see your bank on this list, you need to do two things:

  1. Close your account with the banks and switch over to a local credit union.
  2. Tell the bank why you’re closing your account with them and urge them to stop funding DAPL.

I always used a local credit union so I’m set. I plan to share this info with some interested folks though.

This will be the first major battle for Injustice Boycott, a grassroots Civil Rights organization Shaun King launched last month. The showdown to come at Standing Rock will be the movement’s most important: This is the first time Mr. King is requesting manpower for the cause. Up to now, the movement worked from their keyboards to make change. That is what makes this a critical time.

I’ll be honest: I’m more worried about low turnout than what the resistence will do. Low turnout will severely hurt the movement’s credability. If Injustice Boycott can’t get at least 10,000 people to Standing Rock, they will not be taken seriously. I get the feeling Mr. King is worried about not getting enough people to commit to Standing Rock based on the tone of the email.
