One involves Celtics Big Man Kevin Garnett.
The other Raijon Rondo.
The KG trade with The Clippers and would bring Eric Bledsoe and DeAndre Jordan to Boston while the Rondo trade with The Lakers would bring Dwight Howard to the Garden. There are two big problems with the KG trade rumor/discussion, however: KG has a no-trade clause in his contract with the Celtics and as he said earlier this week at a press conference, he will “Live and Die Green”. For the trade to work KG would have to waive his no-trade clause and he said he’s not going anywhere this season or after it. He even clarified speculation he raised earlier this week that he would be retire after this season. He is not retiring.
As for the Rondo trade rumor it’s just a rumor as well. Me personally, I wouldn’t mind Rondo being traded. He’s gone for the season anyways. Not just for that reason but lately his antics before he got hurt were becoming something of a distraction. The Celtics could cut a deal with Miami for Chris Bosh, the Lakers for Steve Nash or even New Orleans for Austin Rivers (I can see Danny Ainge and Doc Rivers making it work somehow) if you want to talk equal value/trade-off plus future draft picks.
I’m pretty sure I’m in the minority regarding Rondo being traded and that’s fine. Fact is historically the Celtics have always struggled to adjust whenever a key player gets sidelined with an injury. Any one of the three guards I listed above would make an immediate impact for the Celtics though.
